Delta North Primaries: Why Many Are Convinced That Ned Nwoko Won

Sochukwudinma’s attempt on ARISE TV to dismiss Senator Ned Nwoko’s concerns over the Delta North APC primaries fails to address the real issue troubling many party faithful across the district — the credibility of the process itself.

In every democracy, once procedure is compromised, confidence in the outcome automatically weakens.

A single wrong step can destroy the authenticity of an entire exercise.

Senator Ned Nwoko’s position has remained consistent: the issue is not noise-making, but protecting internal democracy and respecting the will of party members who participated in the primaries across the 98 wards of Delta North.

According to Senator Ned, voting took place and results emerged from the wards. However, midway into the process, there was a sudden deviation from the earlier procedure directives given.

Even more concerning were reports and confirmation that members of the Abuja panel violated clear directives from the national leadership of the APC not to publicly announce or address the press concerning the outcome pending proper review and harmonisation.

That action alone naturally raised questions.

If the process was completely transparent and beyond dispute, why has the national leadership of the party not conclusively settled and formally clarified the situation days after the exercise?

If Senator Ifeanyi Okowa’s victory was truly overwhelming and unquestionable, why does confusion and controversy still surround the declaration?

These are legitimate political questions, not emotional complaints.

Senator Ned Nwoko has repeatedly maintained that he won the primaries based on actual votes cast by delegates and party members across Delta North. Many of his supporters also insist that the grassroots momentum visible before and during the exercise strongly reflected that reality.

And truthfully, that belief is not difficult to understand.

Unlike politicians whose strength depends mainly on state structures and government appointees, Senator Ned Nwoko has built an expanding popularity that cuts across youths, traditional communities, professionals, market groups, and politically independent stakeholders.

Former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa still command controlling influence within government circles due to his grip on Governor Sheriff Oborevwori. But political influence within official structures is different from genuine grassroots acceptance.

The growing support around Senator Ned Nwoko has clearly gone beyond political machinery.

From the Anioma State advocacy to constituency restoration, educational interventions, anti-malaria campaigns, and direct engagement with difficult community issues like the Onicha-Olona incident, Senator Ned has steadily cultivated the image of a visible, active, and courageous representative.

This is why many people across Delta North strongly believe that in a completely transparent and uncompromised direct primary, Senator Ned Nwoko remains the preferred choice of the people.

Ultimately, democracy is not protected by force of influence or hurried declarations.

It is protected by credibility, transparency, and respect for the genuine will of the people.

And until every question surrounding the process is honestly addressed, many party faithful will continue to insist that Senator Ned Nwoko’s victory at the Delta North APC primaries reflects the true mood of the grassroots.
